As a result of the generosity of staff and customer, the Radstock Co-operative Society raised over £2,500 for Children in Need. To attract attention to the cause, many staff dressed up in onesies; others participated in some wacky activities to entice and cajole customers to drop their loose change into the collection buckets. There was also a sponsored ‘knit-a-thon’ which provided blankets for a local charity.
A spokesperson for the Society said, ‘I am always amazed that customers and staff need little or no persuading to support this worthwhile cause. Even at a particularly expensive time of year with Christmas approaching and the pressure of increasing expense from rising household bills, people give generously.’
