‘Count Me In’, a local charity, was the recipient of a further £1,000 donation as a consequence of Radstock Co-op’s annual Gala Award and Fund-raising evening.
‘Count Me In’, one of the Society’s chosen charities for the 2015/16 year, received some of the proceeds of the raffle and sponsorship raised on the evening. ‘Count Me In’ offer music sessions for young adults with learning support needs and encourage their members to communciate through the medium of music.
The donation marks the end of ‘Count Me In’s’ year of support from the Society which, with the financial assistance given, has allowed the group to purchase a variety of musical and percussion instruments to add to their resources and has helped to pay for the cost of room hire for the group’s sessions.
Vicki Przytocki, Head of HR and Communications for the Society said, “We have received several progress reports on the groups activities and progress during the year and it’s great to hear how so many of the members benefit from attending the sessions. I am impressed with the enthusasiam and commitment of the group’s organisers led by Jane Harwood, project leader whose combined efforts help to ensure the group’s continuing success. We look forward to hearing of their next project.”
Upon receiving the cheque, Jane Harwood said, “’Count Me In’ really value the support given by the Radstock Co-operative over the last year, which enables us to get new instruments and deliver more music sessions. This recent donation will support our aim to put on a one-day festival event specifically for young people with additional needs, something we've not been able to do before.”
