As is traditional, Radstock Co-operative Society supported the Children in Need appeal by putting out the collection buckets at the check-outs across the retail estate in an attempt to persuade customers to donate their loose change to this national cause. To get in to the spirit and to promote the appeal, many colleagues in the Society’s community stores and head office opted to switch the familiar co-op uniform or office attire for something fun or in accordance with this year’s Children in Need theme of ‘Super Heroes’.
Donations from around the Society raised a total of over £2,860! A spokesperson for the Society said, “Once again, we have to thank both our colleagues and our customers for their generosity which at this time of year is under a great deal of pressure with the approach of the festive season putting a strain on the purse strings and every penny needing to go further than ever before. It just goes to show that people do really want to help children who are vulnerable, need support or who are at risk.”
