Members of 1st Radstock Scout Group were delighted to receive a cheque for £500 from Radstock Co-operative Society, presented by Angela Wilson, one of the society’s directors. The Scouts were voted as the Society’s charity of the year 12 months ago and had been raising funds for improvements to their grounds. This included re-surfacing their 100 metre-long drive, which had not been touched since the site, a former limestone quarry, was donated to The Scout Association in 1934.
The Scout Group currently has over 70 members, and is also home to 1st Radstock Guides and Mercury Explorer Scouts. Group Scout Leader Janet Turner said, “Over one hundred young people attend meetings on our premises each week, and we feel very privileged to have been supported by Radstock Co-operative Society in this way.”
